Congratulations – you are important. I doesn’t matter who you are or what you do for a living. You are important to someone.
This quote reminds me of a story I read – I’m sorry I don’t remember where, probably Readers Digest – A mom was putting her young son to bed and was kind of crabby. Her son asked her what was wrong and she told him she was sad because she had a long list of things to do and didn’t get any of them done that day. She felt like the day had been wasted. Her son spoke up and said, “But Mom, you helped me make green today.” To him the fact that she took time to help him make green for his fingerpainting was important. Of course the Mom smiled and realized that spending time with her son was the most important thing she could do – and it wasn’t even on the list.
Priorities can get out of whack easily in today’s busy world. I know as a Mom sometimes it seems like just getting through the day is an accomplishment. It is good sometimes to pause for a moment and realize that all of that time and effort you are putting into getting the kids to their activities, or working on that project, or cleaning up the house in fact are important to someone.
Give yourself a pat on the back and maybe an extra large piece of chocolate and remember, you are important and what you do matters.
