The Twin Cities have many different universities, but one of the largest is the University of Minnesota. Now you may not think of a University as a place that has family friendly events or attractions, but if you are interested in sports, science or music then the University of Minnesota will have something fun for your family.

The MN Gophers have all of the usual sports; basketball, football, baseball, swimming, track, soccer, hockey etc. If you like watching sports you can get season tickets or just game by game and these tickets are often far less expensive than the professional teams.

There are many different options for science clubs at the U and some of them offer the occasional family event. The Minnesota Institute of Astrophysics has weekly open viewings on the roof of the Tate Laboratory of Physics. The Bell Museum of Natural History is on the campus for those who are interested in the environment, both locally and around the world. The Raptor Center is also located on campus and families can visit to get up close to a variety of raptors.

The university has a thriving music program that provides performances in Jazz, Orchestra, band and choral music. There are recitals and recitals throughout the year. If you want to enjoy some music consider attending one of the 37 events in March or 51 events scheduled for April.

The University of Minnesota is a wonderful resource for families.
