This Nature Center is the largest in the Three Rivers Park District and deserves a look. Located in the Hyland Lake Park Reserve this building contains interpretive displays, live animals and hands on fun for kids.
Here is a virtual tour from 2012 for you to see the center:
The Richardson Nature Center is also home to some amazing raptors. Programs are held regularly to explain the bird’s survival strategies and why these particular birds live at the nature center. There is also a wild bird viewing area where native and migrating birds stop to eat from the feeders.
Another ongoing program is the insect collection adventure. Kids get to catch insects and learn about what they are, how they live and why we need them.
The Nature Center is also near many trails that wander through the park. Bring a lunch and plan to spend the day exploring the great outdoors.
